2025-05-27 Compline
Compline for May 27, 2025, according to pre-Divino Afflatu rubrics, utillizing the pre-Urban VIII version of the hymn “Te lucis.”
It seemed appropriate to put out a Compline video during the Easter season, but unfortunately I’ve had a respiratory illness for the last month or so. Today was the last day that the Paschal tone “Te lucis” would be sung, as tomorrow evening would have I Vespers for the Ascension followed by Compline using a new tone for the “Te lucis” along with a different doxology. It was my last chance. Please excuse my scratchy-sounding voice at certain points in the video, along with the general audio quality…unlike my last video, I did not have a church all to myself this time!
Beautiful! Thank you for sharing this, and for using the pre-Divino Afflatu rubrics. It was so nice to hear the verses from Psalm 30 that were suppressed after the 1911 reforms of Pius X. Prayers for your recovery to full health. 🙏🏼
